- Framing a shot including and excluding elements
- Using a variety of shot distances
- Shooting material appropriate to the task
- Select mise-en-scene
- Editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer
- Using varied shot transitions and effects
- Using sound with images
- Using titles appropriately
